What is Confirmation?

Confirmation is a special church service in which a person confirms the promises that were made when they were baptised.

Children are often baptised when they are very young and their parents and godparents make these promises on their behalf.

As a young person or adult, many people decide to reaffirm these promises for themselves and commit a life of following Jesus Christ.

Friends and family as well as the local Christian community often attend as a promise to support.

The bishop lays his hand on the young person’s head and asks God’s Holy Spirit to give them the strength and commitment to live God’s way for the rest of their life.
