The six boys, some of them believed to be Year 11 pupils from Stepney All Saints School, were travelling in a £187,000 Lamborghini Urus on the way to their end-of-year prom.
The car was being driven by a 20-year-old bloke.
An email from the school in question informed parents of the incident, and confirmed injuries were suffered.
It reads: “Our staff have been in contact with the families of those students who were involved as passengers of the vehicle.
“I can confirm that although there are some injuries to our students, thankfully there are no fatalities.
“This has been confirmed to me this morning by the Metropolitan Police.
“Prayers are with those students and their families – we wish them a speedy recovery.”
The London Ambulance Service confirmed that a “large number of resources” attended, including six ambulance crews, two paramedics and a Hazardous Area Response Team.
No arrests have been made, and the Metropolitan Police confirmed nobody involved was in a “life-threatening condition”.
No update on the driver of the Royal Mail van has been given.
The Met Police spokesman said: “We also sent a Command Support Team to the scene and dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.
“We treated six patients at the scene, and we took two of the patients to a major trauma centre and the other four to local hospitals.”
The driver of the Lamborghini was a man in his 20s, while the driver of the van was a man in his 40s, added the force.
