POSTIES are no longer delivering mail to a street in Helensburgh amid attacks by “aggressive” seagulls.
Terrified staff have halted deliveries to a row of houses in the town after reports of injuries and posties staying in their van out of fear of the birds.
Meanwhile, residents on the street have taken to protecting themselves from the gulls with umbrellas.
Speaking to the Daily Record, schoolteacher David McArthur said: “We’ve not had mail in weeks. Last year, one of the posties was pecked by a gull.

“And this year, one twisted his ankle running away from them.
“We’ve had days where the posties have stayed in their van and beeped the horn for us to run out and get the mail.
““But now they don’t even deliver and we need to pick it up at the Royal Mail office.
“The mail has a note which says they couldn’t deliver because of seagull attacks.
“I can understand it as the birds can be aggressive and have gone for me.
“When we go to the car, we need to take out an umbrella to fend them off.”
On Friday we revealed that a flock of seagulls attacked a two-year-old girl, leaving her with facial injuries.
It came just days after they had savaged her family’s dog.
Recently we reported that a gay Glasgow sauna’s bid to open 24 hours a day could be scuppered due to a row over seagulls.
Angry residents claimed clients and staff chucking away food attracted the birds.
Meanwhile, footie side Queen of the South revealed in July that a swarm of 50 seagulls had been causing chaos at their stadium.
The Dumfries side said the gulls had covered seats in poo after nesting in the stands and coated the pitch in droppings.
And last month a devastated Chihuahua owner broke down as she told how her beloved dog Gizmo had been snatched by a marauding seagull.
