Worries are mounting over the wellbeing of missing Yorkshire mum Victoria Taylor, as friends rally to organise a large-scale search along the river path where she was last seen. The mystery surrounding her disappearance continues to deepen.
Victoria’s friends have been relentlessly scouring the thick undergrowth by the River Derwent in Malton. The 34 year old mother of a one year old daughter was last seen on CCTV footage on Monday buying soft drinks at a local petrol station.
Following her unexplained disappearance, the bottles of soft drinks were discovered by her family members in a clearing on the riverside path. Police have confirmed that these items were bought with Victoria’s card at the petrol station.
Furthermore, what is thought to be her green camouflage cap, which she wore in the CCTV images, has been found by officers. Her rucksack, recognisable by its salmon pink Vans branding, has also been retrieved.
On Friday, as the search entered its fifth day, Victoria’s friends were seen meticulously combing through the bracken along the footpath with large branches, hoping to unearth more evidence. Another group concentrated their efforts on a section of the river near a golf course, where the water flows into a shallower area, according to The Mirror, reports Yorkshire Live.

A friend, who wished to remain anonymous, highlighted the critical nature of the search: “we just need as many people to see her face as possible and help us look for her. The current runs towards the golf club so they’re thinking something might hopefully turn up there.”

Expert police search teams have taken to kayaks, broadening their efforts along the river towards the adjacent village. Yet, Victoria’s sisters Heidi and Emma have raised concerns about the extent of the search being conducted by the authorities.
Concerns have been voiced to the Mirror by friends of the missing woman, Victoria Taylor, noting that despite her disappearance, no dogs or helicopters have been used in the search along the dense river path where she was last seen. In an effort to uncover more leads, Victoria’s family and friends are now organising volunteers to gather at a local pub to conduct a comprehensive search of her last known whereabouts.
The Derwent Arms has become the hub for volunteers, handing out piles of missing person flyers to those joining the search. A close friend of Victoria has made a commitment to continue the search as it moves into its fifth day.
A Facebook group named ‘The search for Victoria Taylor’, created by Charlotte Cundill, has quickly grown to over 4,500 members. Posts from Victoria’s loved ones, including Charlotte, reinforce their determination with messages stating they “won’t give up” on finding the Huddersfield woman.
Charlotte has declared: “Day five let’s do this. Let’s get you home beautiful. I won’t give up.”
One member of the group shared: “I don’t think that anyone who knew Victoria will give up on her. “I only knew her because my mum spent her final years at Rivermead Care Home where she worked. “Victoria was a truly caring, compassionate and patient person.”
“I know it was her job but I always got the impression that she genuinely cared. On the day that mum passed Victoria looked after not only mum but also my sister and I and we will never forget her kindness.”
Another local resident added: “So proud of my little town. Hundreds of people out day and night looking for Victoria, strangers and friends alike. Nobody is giving up.”
