A second Royal Mail office in the Plymouth area has gone on strike due to bullying and harassment claims.
Postal workers from the West Park delivery office downed tools this morning, a week after postmen and women from the Ivybridge office walked out.
Yesterday, Plymouth Live reported how Royal Mail confirmed it is investigating claims of bullying and harassment at Ivybridge delivery office.
Martin Walsh, who is from the Communications Workers Union [CWU], said that bullying needs to be given a “bigger focus” and that members in “too many offices are being bullied” and that “enough is enough”.
Residents in the area say that a large group workers have been outside the office on Coombe Park Lane for the majority of the morning.
Pictures show at least 30 uniformed workers outside of the gates.
Plymouth Live has contacted Royal Mail for comment and asked how much the strike will effect mail deliveries.
Royal Mail provided the following statement in relation to the Ivybridge strike on Wednesday, July 17.
A spokesperson said: “Royal Mail is currently investigating these allegations.
“As the investigations are ongoing, we won’t comment further. All employees have returned to work and mail deliveries are back to normal, with no delay to the mail.
“Bullying and harassment is not tolerated at Royal Mail.
“There are processes and procedures in place for employees to report it if they feel they are being unfairly treated, including a whistleblowing line.”
