Shane Meadows Classic ‘This Is England’ Is Now Available To Stream For Free

Filmed in Yorkshire, This Is England is an iconic coming-of-age drama starring the likes of Stephen Graham and Vicky McClure, who are now both British icons. The film has arrived on a new streaming platform in the UK for your viewing pleasure. The perfect Sunday film is what you ask us. Free to watch on Channel 4’s streaming service, it’s giving fans and first-time viewers a chance to watch a British classic.

Set in the Midlands, and directed by Shane Meadows the film was shot mostly in various areas across Sheffield and South Yorkshire, with the Park Hill flats being one of the most recognisable backdrops. It then became the location for the series that followed from the film.

For those who haven’t seen it. The story is about Shaun, a 12-year-old who falls in with a group of skinhead friends. Starting as a friendship thing, it soon turned darker as an older ex-con with extremist views turned up.

The cast, alongside Graham and McClure, also features familiar names Thomas Turgoose, Joe Gilgun, Michael Socha, Jo Hartley, and Chanel Cresswell.

Directed by Shane Meadows, the film is now a classic British which also inspired tv series: This Is England ’86, This Is England ’88, and This Is England ’90.
