Shepparton High School reunion shares tales from the past

Tales from as early as the 1930s’ classroom were shared at a Shepparton High School reunion on Sunday.

Close to 120 past students who attended the school from the 1930s through to the 1960s came together at Mooroopna’s Royal Mail Hotel to reminisce and share stories from the good old days.

The former students get together each year for the reunion as a way to keep in contact and discuss memories from their time in school.

Joy Phillis, who has organised the event for the past three years, said it took a lot of time and many phone calls to get everyone together for the day. But despite the work, she said it was worthwhile seeing everyone together in one room sharing photos and stories.

With past students travelling from as far away as Ferntree Gully, Sale and Melbourne for the reunion, Ms Phillis said everyone was asked to sign a guest book to ensure they could be tracked down in years to come.

“Everyone comes together, it’s always a great day,” she said.
