Sherborne Fields residents report post delays for six weeks

ROYAL Mail has apologised for post problems caused by Covid-related absence affecting parts of the borough for more than six weeks, with residents still waiting for Christmas cards and gifts to arrive.

Residents in Sherborne Fields say they have been experiencing problems with postal deliveries since November, with some receiving post only once in the last six weeks.

One resident, who did not want to be named, told the Gazette the issues are also affecting some parts of Rooksdown, saying: “In the past six weeks we have had post once. I live in Sherborne Fields and I know the situation is the same in Rooksdown.

“On trying to contact the Royal Mail they say they are only delivering parcels, but we haven’t had any of them either.”

She said many residents in the area have been complaining about the lack of post, adding: “We are still waiting for Christmas cards and gifts to arrive.”

A spokesperson for Royal Mail confirmed that it had experienced “some delays” in the area because of Covid-related sickness.

They added: “The vast majority of mail is delivered safely and on time. We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week. In the local area, we are experiencing some delays to service due to Covid-related sickness absence.

“We apologise to customers for any inconvenience they may experience as we work hard to resolve the situation.

“Anyone who has concerns over the delivery of their mail should contact the Royal Mail customer service team on 03457 740 740 or via the Royal Mail website www.royalmail.com.”
