Shetland crime drama to return in early November

THE BBC has confirmed that the next series of crime drama Shetland will air in the coming weeks.

The first episode of series nine will be shown on BBC One at 9pm on Wednesday 6 November.

The series will be led again by Ruth Calder (Ashley Jensen) and ‘Tosh’ (Alison O’Donnell).

The preview for episode one says a double missing person’s case “blurs the lines between the personal and the professional, as Calder and Tosh are drawn into a labyrinthine investigation”.

Among the guest cast for series nine is Ian Hart (Mr Bates Vs The Post OfficeHarry Potter) and Vincent Regan (TracesLuther: The Fallen SunAquaman).

Speaking previously about the series, O’Donnell said: “It’s actually quite personal for Tosh this time because the person who goes missing at the beginning of the season is in Tosh’s friendship circle.”
