Thousands of punters have donned their best black-and-white frocks and flocked to Sydney’s Royal Randwick Racecourse for a day of celebrations at the The Star Championships.
The event is usually known for its formal black-and-white dress code – but most Sydney racegoers opted to ditch their stilettos come the afternoon.
Glammed-up revellers descended on the inner-city racecourse for trackside celebrations on Saturday afternoon which included a live performance from the Aussie indie-pop band Sheppard.

Elegant frocks and two piece co-ords were the sought after look for the race despite the city’s woeful weather making for a chilly and windy Autumn afternoon.
Shades of cream, white and pastels appeared to be the popular choice among women, while blokes sported a classic black suit or a colourful shirt.
The Championships are known for their mega prizemoney with highlights including the $2million Bentley Australian Derby and the $3million Star Doncaster Mile.

Revellers let their hair down for a day of trackside celebrations at The Star Championships at Randwick racecourse on Saturday
Punters were taken by surprise when Mr Brightside took out the $3million windfall in the Doncaster Mile on Saturday beating pre-race favourite Forbidden Love in the 1600metre race.
While Hitotsu defied history and came out on top with the Maurice colt winning his third-consecutive Group 1 race in the Bentley Australian Derby 2400m track.
But there was plenty of action in the stands as the stars turned out.

Cricket WAG, Candice Warner, 37, showed off her fashionable Chanel tweed ensemble paired with a beret as she posed for photographers at Royal Randwick.
Candice didn’t hold back opting for a flamboyant white blouse, tucked into a black mini-skirt to match her jacket, and boosted her height with black pointed heels with gold embellishing.
Also making an appearance was Married At First Sight power-couple Jules Robinson, and Cameron Merchant.

Jules, 40, flaunted her incredible 20kg weight loss in a white lace maxi-dress, which she accessorised with a black waist belt and statement fascinator.
Meanwhile Cameron, 38, looked dapper in a crisp white dress shirt, a grey suit jacket, black trousers, a thin charcoal tie and black patent lace-up shoes.
Booze flowed at a number of pop-up bars as punters were entertained by live DJs including a performance from Australian indie-pop band Sheppard invoking a party atmosphere.

As celebrations wound down the ladies were quick to ditch the stilettos.
A number of revellers were seen exiting the racecourse barefoot while one woman was spotted hitching a ride on the back of a male companion.
The Championships will kick-on for Day Two on Saturday April 9 where punters can expect to be treated to a live performance from the world’s most famous ABBA tribute act, Bjorn Again.
The event is also known for its feature race, the Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes which offers a prizepool of $4million and will guarantee a top bill of world-class thoroughbreds.
The $2million Schweppes Sydney Cup and the Group 1 $1million The Star Australian Oaks are also up for grabs.
