Single ’emergency coronavirus toilet roll’ selling for more than £200 on eBay

A single toilet roll is selling on eBay for more than £200.

The ”coronavirus emergency bog roll” has attracted 10 bids so far, with more than five days to go.

The hilarious description of the everyday essential states: “1 x Andrex toilet roll (200 sheets).

“Has your local Asda sold out? Have you already been down and grabbed three 24 packs, but you’re worried you might need an extra roll as back up?

“I’m auctioning one of my own genuine Andrex “Classic Clean” single rolls, because I’m kind and I care about your poor delicate bottom, being savaged by that Smart Price/Basics/Value {rubbish] and totally not because I want to cash in on the coronavirus panic buying*.

“*This statement may change if I end up getting more than a fiver.

“Condition is new. Dispatched with Royal Mail first class. Not sure how much it’ll cost so I’ve put it as two quid.

“If it costs less, I’ll throw in a pocket-sized hand sanitizer (used).”

The auction, by Midlands-based eBay user dave11thnun, is one of the many examples of people – in typical British style – using humour to lighten a serious situation.

It comes after panic-buying of toilet paper has seen empty shelves in supermarkets across the country.

In similar fashion, a ‘grab machine’ in a Bridlington arcade has been filled with toilet rolls, which appear to have become the country’s must-have item since the coronavirus outbreak.
