Katy, who is based at the Royal Mail depot at Sutton-in-Ashfield had wanted to do something to cheer people up during the Covid 19 lockdown whilst helping to raise money for the annual Poppy Appeal.

Katy, who is also known in the area as a spinning exercise instructor said: “I just thought it might cheer people up if they saw me delivering the mail, come rain or shine, in my colourful poppy dress!

“People couldn’t go to the Remembrance services this year, and everyone is fed up with the coronavirus lockdown situation, so I thought it would be a great way to make people smile, whilst raising money for the Poppy Appeal, marking Remembrance Day.

“On the day, it was fantastic how many people turned out to see me on the route thanks to the story. It was brilliant. So many people donated and it was really nice to see everyone. I love my job, and meeting people. The total raised is now over £1100 which is absolutely amazing!”
