Somerset haulier Massey Wilcox sets its sights on FORS Silver

The family-run firm, which has depots in Bristol, Radstock and Emborough, specialises in general transport, storage, warehousing, and nationwide pallet distribution through its shareholder membership of the Wolverhampton-based Pallet-Track network. It has a total capacity of 250,000sq ft warehousing across all sites.

Massey Wilcox decided to get FORS recognition after identifying a gap in the local market for a haulier with FORS accreditation.

The Somerset haulier has revealed that it is now aiming to gain FORS Silver accreditation in early 2025, having already invested £1m in 2024 on new tractor units and trailers and increased the number of tractors that are DVS compliant for deliveries into London and other major towns and cities.

The company has also been awarded an A rating under the British Retail Consortium (BRC) Standard, following an audit of its newest warehouse. BRC accreditation guarantees the highest industry standards for product handling and food safety.

Incorporating racked and bulk storage, the warehouse has also been used to provide the safe storage of glass and other fragile items for drinks and cosmetics customers, along with paper reels which require specialist equipment and training to ensure the safe storage and handling.

Key to the BRC accreditation has been putting systems in place for cleanliness, hygiene, and processes to meet end-to-end compliance requirements for food and related products.

Massey Wilcox said the accolade will help the business continue to deliver diverse solutions for new and existing customers.

Chris Stanford, Massey Wilcox director, said: “We are always looking towards the future, and both these accreditations will help with that next step.

“The FORS certification enables us to build additional contracts, and we have targets in place to move from Bronze to Silver early in 2025.

“The successful BRC audit acknowledges all the hard work the team at Massey Wilcox have put in to making our warehouse offerings the very best for a range of customers.

“Not only can we manage the storage of complex consignments, but we can also facilitate new storage options to help grow our business going forward.”

Stuart Godman, Pallet-Track chief executive, said: “Congratulations to all the team at Massey Wilcox on this double achievement.

“It is fantastic to see this shareholder member continue to go from strength to strength, by diversifying its operation and looking towards the future. We are immensely proud.”
