South Yorkshire woman ‘disgusted’ after Christmas cards arrived opened

A Doncaster woman has said she is “disgusted” with the postal service after several of her Christmas cards arrived opened.

The woman, posting on a local Facebook group, claims that her Christmas cards had been opened before they were delivered and believes that it was by Royal Mail workers looking for cash.

She said: “Every Christmas card I have had delivered by post has been opened!! Disgusted with postal service.”

The original poster referred to the dishonesty as “shocking” but said that, thankfully, none of her cards contained any money.

When YorkshireLive approached Royal Mail for a comment, a spokesperson said that the company takes a “zero policy” approach to dishonesty.

They said: “Royal Mail has a zero tolerance approach to any dishonesty and that stance is shared by the overwhelming majority of postmen and women, who are honest and hardworking and who do all they can to protect the mail and deliver it safely.

“Royal Mail customers should be confident in our services and systems, but where we are alerted to problems, either through our own stringent checks or from information supplied by our customers, we will investigate.

“If any customer has any queries or concerns about their mail, they should contact our customer service department on 08457 740 740 or via the website: www.royalmail.com.”
