Royal Mail staff formed a picket line this morning, signalling the beginning of two back-to-back days of strike action.
Postal workers are calling for improved pay and terms and conditions.
Passing vehicles showed solidarity with the workers, honking as they drove past the picket line, where warm food cooked on a barbecue kept the strikers warm in the foggy morning.
Royal Mail staff will strike today (Friday) and tomorrow, ahead of further strikes over the next two months in the build up to Christmas.
There are another 19 days of action planned, nine of those affecting deliveries.
All services will strike on October 13, 20, 25 and November 28.
Delivery workers will also return to the picket line on November 4, 10, 16 and December 2.
Further strikes will be carried out by delivery and processing workers on other days until December 1.
