Historian Dan Snow has joined Star Wars fans in calling for the new crown insignia on post boxes to pay homage to Star Wars following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
The famous historian who made his career with the BBC is married to Lady Edwina Louise Grosvenor and her brother Hugh Louis Grosvenor is the Godfather to Prince George.
Snow is among many Brits who want the insignia to read CIIIPO – or C3PO after the popular Star Wars character. He tweeted: “I hope the Post Office’s new acronym will be: C3PO.” His tweet followed an earlier tweet by Phil Hintz.

Mr Hintz wrote: “So the UK now has a predicament. Queen Elizabeth’s crown insignia is all over the country on fences and post office boxes. EIIR for Elizabeth Regina the second.
“But now they need to change to CIIIP for Charles Philip the 3rd. Oh, that means they can make it CIIIPO for Star Wars C-3PO.”
C-3PO is a droid programmed for etiquette and protocol, built by the heroic Jedi Anakin Skywalker before he turns into Darth Vader, and a constant companion to astromech R2-D2.
The face of Queen Elizabeth II appeared on postage stamps while the acronym EIIR for Elizabeth II Regina is affixed to post boxes, which will need to be changed to mark King Charles III.
Big Pawed Bear wrote: “C3PO certainly knocks Consignia into a well folded envelope. *smile*”
Gareth Wild added: “As Charles will be Charles III, can we start a campaign for the Royal Mail to be renamed C3PO?”
Tim Beuzeval, said: “I think C3PO has already been claimed by the republicans”.
Andy Williams joked: “May the Parcel Force be with you.”.
David Alexander added: “Only if all the letterboxes are repainted as R2D2”.
