State Senate Republicans to push tougher illegal immigration policies

Republican lawmakers plan to push several budget amendments today to try once again to crack down on illegal immigrants who get public benefits like food stamps and public housing. A similar proposal failed last month during the House’s budget debate, but proponents say the issue has since gained traction, pointing to a Quincy rally Friday that attracted more than 125 people who support it.
