Big Yellow’s annual Christmas toy appeal has got off to an amazing start following the recent launch at the self storage provider and is already half way to achieving the target of £10,000 worth of new toys and gifts thanks to readers of The Chronicle and Cheshire Live.
Several businesses in the area throw their weight behind the appeal every year and one of those is The Mail Centre on Jupiter Drive, one of the various ‘donation stations’ across the city.
Adrian Prins of the Communication Workers Union at the Royal Mail facility was delighted to be able to help once again: “The CWU as a union will always help everybody, including the wider community. We are more than happy, especially at Christmas, to assist underprivileged children.”
Jeff Banks, business development manager at Big Yellow, was thrilled at the amount of donations received so far, which will all be distributed prior to Christmas to local children’s charities.
He said: “We’ve had a tremendous response so far by the public, clubs, schools, and many businesses are also on board too with the likes of The Mail Centre.
“We’ll be able to help six different charities this year thanks to the kind donations from everyone.”
The cut off point for donations is Tuesday, December 17, which will allow the various charities time to prepare all the gifts for under privileged children.
“We’ve had all sizes of donations received so far, and no matter how small you think your donation will be, it will be very well received by a child this Christmas Day.
“I’d like to thank everyone that has donated so far,” said Jeff, who has co-ordinated the toy appeal at the Chester branch on Sealand Road for six years.
Donations can be made at Big Yellow Self Storage (next to B&Q), Sealand Road, Chester CH1 4RN (tel 01244 399993) between the hours of 8am-6pm Monday to Friday, 9am-6pm Saturday and 10am-4pm Sunday.
There are also drop off points at The Mail Centre in Chester on Jupiter Drive, Chester; Co-Op Westminster Park, Chester; Morrisons Supermarket in Saltney, Chester FC’s Deva Stadium, and also Beresford Adams Estate Agents on Grosvenor Road in Chester, and also in their Mold branch at The Cross.
