Stoke City fan has put the first team up for sale on eBay

Stoke City have endured a miserable start to the season, but just as things seemed like they couldn’t get any worse, they have.

The Potters lost 2-1 at fellow-strugglers Middlesbrough on Friday night despite taking the lead and currently sit second-bottom, two points from safety.

Since a period of stability in the Premier League under Tony Pulis, City are now on their fourth permanent manager in two years, with current boss Michael O’Neill having a big job on his hands.

Stoke’s fall from Premier League-regulars to Championship-strugglers within just a couple of seasons has left even their most ardent fans disgruntled, and one supporter in particular has now had enough.

‘jezzal69’ headed to eBay to take his frustration out on his club, putting the first team up for sale.

And they certainly didn’t hold anything back, listing the condition of the squad for sale as ‘For parts or not working’. Ouch.

‘jezzal69’ gave users more details on the squad:

“Stoke City FC First Team Squad. Condition is For parts or not working. Dispatched with Royal Mail 2nd Class.

“Not suitable for task for which bought, unreliable and unpredictable, job lot of below average footballers, attitudes questionable, work ethic poor, not advisable to use as dog walkers as cannot hold onto a lead.”

Speaking to the Stoke Sentinel, it remains to be seen whether boss O’Neill will actually ring the changes in January though.

“There’s no room in the changing room for any more players!

“We won’t be able to bring any in unless some players leave first of all. We had 17 not starting (against Wigan). That’s too many. That’s the reality, without young players. We just have to manage that situation between now and January.”

At the time of writing, the squad is listed as an impressive £590, having had 35 bids.

With 6 days left in the auction and an estimated delivery date of 4 January, it’s not too late to get someone a late, albeit expensive, Christmas present!
