Stoke-on-Trent post office to shut after operator ‘resigns’

A post office branch within Stoke-on-Trent’s biggest bus station is to shut. The branch is inside Costcutter at Hanley Bus Station.

But the operator has resigned and the branch will shut next year. Now the branch will not be replaced.

A Post Office spokesperson said: “We can confirm that we have had a resignation for the operator of Lichfield Street Post Office for next year and the branch is due to close at the bus station on 16 March. There is Hanley Post Office inside the TGJones store in The Potteries Centre, which is 0.66 miles away. There is also St Judes which is one mile away and Birches Head, which is 1.23 miles away. We have reviewed Post Office provision in the area and we are not looking to replace the Lichfield Street branch.”
