Strathcarron Hospice raises funds from tree recycling

Strathcarron Hospice was chosen as the beneficiary of this year’s Christmas tree collection scheme, which saw 569 real trees collected in exchange for donations made via JustHelping.

Claire Kennedy, corporate fundraiser at Strathcarron Hospice, said: “We would like to thank everyone who chose Strathcarron as the beneficiary of having their tree recycled.

“This helps us raise vital funds for the Hospice and the work we do to support palliative and end of life patients and their loved ones.

“A special thanks goes to Sustainable Thinking Scotland CIC for recycling the trees, to Torwood Garden Centre for their hospitality and use of grounds as a base for the collection campaign and to Central Demolition for their skips, to move the trees from Torwood to Bo’ness.”

The trees will now all be taken to be recycled by Sustainable Thinking Scotland CIC, in Bo’ness.

The campaign relied on the support of local businesses, many of which volunteered staff and vehicles to assist with the collections.

Ms Kennedy said: “A huge thanks goes to all the businesses who displayed banners, posters and tags and to the following businesses who provided transport and volunteers for collecting the trees – we really could not have done it without your fantastic support.”

Participating companies included Idverde UK, AHC, MKM Stirling, Royal Mail Stirling, John Graham Metals Stirling, Woodside Plants, IBT & AllTruck, FBS, Balfour Beatty, and O’Neill Timber & Trees.
