Street splattered in blood as man injured in attack ‘involving brick’

A man was reportedly hit with a brick and stabbed in the chest in a late night attack in Stockton.

Cleveland Police were on the scene of the alleged assault in the Newtown area at 11.15pm on Saturday.

Blood was left splattered over the pavement on Durham Road, opposite the Royal Mail Sorting Office.

An eyewitness said: “Two men were involved. The injured man was hit over the head with a brick and then stabbed in the chest with a bottle.

“The incident started in a house close by and spilled into the street.”

A police cordon was set up as Crime Scene Investigation officers probed the scene of the attack.

Fulll details of the incident and the condition of the man have not yet been released by Cleveland Police.

A spokeswoman for North East Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 11.03pm to reports of a person possibly having been assaulted.

“We sent an ambulance and an officer. We took one male patient to James Cook University Hospital.”
