Supermarkets open on Boxing Day 2022 as Aldi, M&S, Waitrose and Iceland to close

Christmas is well and truly finished for another year, meaning it is time to be getting the household back into some sort of post-festive normality.

For a lot of us, that could mean popping out to the shops to restock the fridge and freezer with some basics after we raided it during the holidays.

However, before you go popping out to the supermarket, it is worth noting that many of them will still be operating at reduced hours, or may even still be closed.

Major supermarkets such as Aldi, M&S, Waitrose and Iceland have chosen to keep their doors shut today so that their staff members can enjoy a well deserved break during the holidays.

Not all supermarkets will be closed, as the likes of Lidl, Morrisons, Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Co-op have opened back up to the public from this morning.

Lidl

Lidl will be open back up to the public from reduced hours, with most stores open from 10am-4pm.

The supermarket will go back to normal opening hours from December 27.

Morrisons

The majority of Morrisons stores will be open today from around 9am-6pm.

Stores will be open as normal from 7am-11pm from December 27.

Asda

Asda stores will also be open at reduced hours today, with the majority open from 9am-6pm.

Store opening hours will go back to 7am-10pm from December 27.

Tesco

Some larger and smaller Tesco stores will be open today, while others remain closed.

The opening hours of the superstore and Express stores that are open do vary depending on your location.

Sainsbury’s

Larger Sainsbury’s stores will be open from 10am-6pm, while convenience stores will be open from 9am-6pm.

As Tuesday December 27 is a bank holiday the supermarket will be open from 8am-8pm.

Co-op stores are also open today, with the majority open from 8am-8pm.
