Supply Chain Attack Affects Royal Mail

The cyber-attack was on the German data collection and analysis firm Spectos.

A cyber-attack on the German data collection and analysis firm Spectos may result in a supply chain impact on the Royal Mail Group.

According to media reports, the Royal Mail Group has confirmed that it has been affected by a cyber-attack, with a spokesperson confirming the organisation is aware of the incident involving Spectos.

“We are aware of an incident which is alleged to have affected Spectos, a supplier of Royal Mail. We are working with the company to investigate the issue and establish what impact, if any, there may be regarding their data,” a Royal Mail spokesperson told Cybernews.

Despite acknowledging threat actors’ claims to have stolen 144 GB of data from its systems, including confidential documents, customers’ personal information, delivery addresses, Zoom meeting recordings between Royal Mail and its partners, MailChimp mailing lists, and WordPress SQL database, Royal Mail said that none of its postal service systems were affected by the intrusion.
