The Swedish royal family has released two adorable new portraits of Prince Oskar to mark his fourth birthday today.

Prince Oscar, Duke of Skåne, is the younger child of the future queen, Crown Princess Victoria, 42, and her husband Prince Daniel, 46.

The first of two monochrome images, shared to the Kungahuset Instagram account earlier today, shows Prince Oscar gazing out of a window at the Haga Palace in Stockholm.

He wore a broad grin on his face, and was dressed in a polo shirt underneath a v-neck jumper with his blond hair neatly teased back from his face.

In the second snap the birthday boy looked solemn as he posed alongside his big sister Princess Estelle, Duchess of Östergötland, eight.

The pair were both lying on the floor in the candid shot, and held their chins in their hands.

The post with the caption ‘Today, Prince Oscar turns 4!’ quickly racked up 22,000 likes in two hours.

The two images appeared to be from the same photoshoot shared on Princess Estelle’s eighth birthday last month.

Prince Osckar was born at the Karolinska University Hospital in the Swedish capital of Stockholm at 8.28pm on 2nd March 2016.

He is third in line to the throne after his mother and elder sister, eight-year-old Princess Estelle, who was born in February 2012.

Addressing the media after his son’s birth, Crown Prince Daniel said that the couple had kept the sex of their baby a surprise, admitting that he had tears streaming down his face when his child was born – just as he had done during the birth of Estelle.

‘Everyone is obviously very happy,’ Prince Daniel said, according to Expressen. ‘I haven’t had time to feel yet how it feels to be a father of two, but it obviously feels good.’

He then added: ‘Estelle is of course really enthusiastic and happy about being a big sister.’
