Swindon crash off A419 leaves biker ‘fighting for his life’

The biker, a man in his 60s, was involved in a single-vehicle crash while riding a Kawasaki motorbike on the slip road to Wheatstone Road and the Royal Mail facilities in Dorcan.

Police were called to the scene at around 4.40pm and closed Faraday Road where the rider was discovered with a serious head injury.

He was taken to hospital and self-discharged at around 8.30pm.

The man was readmitted later in the night and remains hospitalised at the time of writing.

Officers described his condition as “life-threatening.”



An investigation into the incident remains ongoing and police have urged anyone who witnessed it to come forward.

A spokesperson for the force said: “We are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision on the A419 Dorcan slip road yesterday afternoon (July 12).

“Any witnesses to the collision or anyone who may have dash cam is asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Team on 01225 694597 quoting log number 268 of yesterday’s date.

“Alternatively, they can contact the team directly at SCIT@wiltshire.police.uk.”
