Former Take That member Jason Orange has made a surprising career move, a decade after leaving the band and stepping out of the public eye. The 54 year old singer, who rose to fame as part of the iconic boyband’s original line-up in 1990 alongside Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, Robbie Williams, and Mark Owen, is set to make millions from his new venture.
His decision to leave the band in 2014 shocked fans, especially given the band’s continued success with Gary, Howard, and Mark, whose net worth is estimated at £250 million as a group. Despite his bandmates’ ongoing prosperity, with only Robbie going solo in 1995, Jason walked away from a significant share of Take That’s earnings.
His net worth, around £24 million accumulated over his time in the band, checked out in 2014 as Take That – who he referred to as his “brothers” – remained one of the UK’s top-earning music acts. However, The Sun reports that Jason has recently ventured into a new career – co-owning property business Nine The Firs, in partnership with Leicester City football legend Neil Lennon.
A source shared: “Jason and Neil have known each other for years, having played in a charity football game together. Neil has a firm and Jason has joined in.”
While Jason has always preferred a low-key existence, the source added: “He’s got a real flair for property” and has already sold a property, with the buyer describing him as “lovely” and “professional,” reports the Express.
Jason is finding success with his co-ownership of Nine The Firs, with earnings estimated between £100,000 and £500,000 annually if the business remains small yet profitable. The potential for profit rises significantly to £500,000 to £1 million+ per year as they expand and engage in higher-value property transactions.
He made a comeback with the band during their 2006 return but departed in 2014, revealing he had wanted to leave for some time and was not interested in committing to new music projects. While Gary, Mark, and Howard continued as Take That, Jason explored acting roles and preferred low-key life in Manchester over London’s social scene.
Despite not joining Take That for the Coronation Concert for King Charles III in May 2023, Jason’s decision was hinted at by Mark in June, who said: “I think Jason felt like he didn’t want to do it anymore, but I’m not going to speak for him.”
Gary also confirmed to The Sun that Jason won’t be rejoining the group, stating: “He’s not coming back. Take That is Mark, Howard, and me for the next few years.”

Howard has mentioned that Jason chose to lead a “normal life” in the countryside, distancing himself from communications such as calls or emails. He shared this insight on the Loose Women show back in 2018, acknowledging that this move was beneficial for Jason.
In a 2020 interview, Gary confessed: “We hear from Jason now and again, but when you reply, the email doesn’t work. It’s bigger than we all know. It was hard for us to watch him go. He wanted to leave.”
