Royal Mail has issued an alert to residents in specific postcodes, warning that deliveries might be delayed.
The postal service typically aims to deliver to all addresses six days weekly, but the company has acknowledged that in certain parts of the country, postal workers are finding it difficult to maintain this schedule, reports the Express.
According to Royal Mail, the delays are due to challenges including “high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors”.
A spokesperson said: “In those cases, we will rotate deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers.
“We also provide targeted support to those offices to address their challenges and restore our service to the high standard our customers would normally receive.
“We’re sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.”
At present, 146 postcodes across the UK are experiencing disruption, spanning locations such as Dundee, Hull, Penarth, Shrewsbury and Glasgow. Beyond these delays, Royal Mail has confirmed its air and road network continues to run according to plan.
The postal service has also stated that all mail was processed and dispatched on schedule at mail centres during the previous 24 hours.
