Ten of the rarest 50p coins to ever be made will be entered into circulation in Hull and East Yorkshire next week.
Four hundred of the special edition Peter Rabbit coins were never meant to be released, however one woman in our area has been given the important job of dropping some of them everywhere from parking metres to amusement arcades in the coming days.
The coins, which can be bought from the Royal Mint for £10, was only ever meant as a commemorative coin but a PR stunt has been commissioned so they can find their ways into the hands of random members of the public.
People from across the UK have been putting their names forward to help out with distributing the rare items and a woman from our patch was lucky enough to be selected.
It all started last week when ‘The Great British Coin Hunt’ vowed to shake things up by putting 400 of the previously packaged coins into circulation, therefore making it the rarest 50p due to the low quantity figure.
The coins are currently being distributed at various locations all over the UK, this is said to be completed by the end of the month. The general public are urged to keep an eye out in their change and share their story if willing.

Ian Lambert who owns ‘The Great British Coin Hunt’ released the first 20 locations of where the coins have been put into circulation nationally earlier this week and Hull Live hope to be able to share some of the spots in Hull and East Yorkshire where they have been circulated in the coming days.
