Joanne Stanway, who worked as a teacher, was allowed to leave work early twice a week to take Georgia to training with Blackburn Rovers.

South Cumbria post offices ‘concerned’ with new DLVA changes
POST office bosses in South Cumbria have expressed their concerns following the Driving and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) changes coming to place next year.
DVLA will cease its contract with the Post Office Ltd in March 2024, which will affect residents in the UK, including those in South Cumbria.

Travellers leave waste after Biggar Bank eviction
A GROUP of travellers staying on a patch of land on Walney left their rubbish for council officers to deal with after being served a notice to leave.

Lake District hotel The Swan to host first Gin Festival
The Inn Collection Group’s The Swan in Grasmere is hosting its first annual Gin Festival over the August bank holiday weekend.
The festival, taking place on Saturday and Sunday, will bring together seven gin producers in the beer garden of The Swan.

Major update on Barrow Barclays bank services with branch due to close
BARCLAYS is due to open a new banking hub after the closure of its Barrow town centre branch.
The chain is due to close its branch in Dalton Road in November in a move the company said was prompted by people using other banking methods.
