Humorous photographs reveal a group of minor royals who did not make the cut for the King’s main birthday grouping – as they were spotted in a hidden gallery inside the depths of Buckingham Palace.

King Charles, Kate, William, Charlotte, Louis and George took pride of place in a slimmed-down group of royals this afternoon as they greeted crowds on the royal balcony.

But images show that the Kents – Timothy and Flora Vasterberg, the Earl of St Andrews, Lord Nicholas Windsor, Lady Gabriella and Thomas Kingston – also attended the Trooping the Colour parade.

While Charles and his immediate family waved at spectators and looked up to watch the event’s flypast, the group of six minor royals stood directly behind them on a more discreet balcony.

Flora Vasterberg, married to Timothy, is the late Queen Elizabeth’s 28-year-old cousin, who wed her husband in a small, private event in 2021.

Guests at their wedding included Prince Edward and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh.

The Earl of St Andrews, George Windsor, 60, is the son of the Duke and Duchess of Kent. He is also a respected philanthropist and former diplomat.

Also on the hidden balcony was Lady Gabriella Windsor, 42, the daughter of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent.

Lady Gabriella was accompanied by her husband Thomas Kingston. Their wedding, attended by Queen Elizabeth II, took place at St George’s Chapel in Windsor, which also hosted the weddings of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank, as well as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex just months earlier in 2018.

It comes as little Prince Louis, five, stole the show on the royal balcony today as he gave a cheeky salute to the adoring crowds cheering for his grandad King Charles’s official birthday.

The adorable royal was also seen throwing his fists in the air and pouting as his mother Kate looked at him with pride and amusement.

One of the main highlights of the flypast above Buckingham Palace saw 18 Typhoon fighter jets spelling out the King’s monogram ‘CR’ – short for Charles Rex.

King Charles saddled up to become the first monarch in more than 30 years to take part in the ceremony as his official birthday parade began this morning.

The King rode onto Horse Guards Parade in Whitehall as the nation’s head of state.
