Both Prince Charles and Camilla have also tested positive for Covid-19 in recent days.

On February 10, Clarence House released a statement to Twitter revealing HRH had tested positive.

It read: “This morning The Prince of Wales has tested positive for Covid-19 and is now self-isolating”.

Just days later Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall tested positive. A Clarence House spokesman said: “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall has tested positive for Covid-19 and is self-isolating.

“We continue to follow government guidelines.”

This is in fact the second time Prince Charles has had Covid, first testing positive in 2020.

On Thursday he was able to emerge from his isolation period.

Prince William also tested positive not long after Charles’ first infection, however, this remained private at the time as to not alarm the nation.

Sophie, The Countess of Wessex tested positive for Covid-19 in October 2020 having come into contact with a positive case.

In December 2021, the Princess Royal’s husband Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence tested positive, meaning Anne and Admiral Sir Timothy could not join the Queen on Christmas Day at Windsor.

Princess Michael of Kent, 77, who is married to the Queen’s cousin Prince Michael of Kent, suffered severe symptoms when she contracted Covid-19 in November 2020.

She is understood to have had bad lungs as a child making her more susceptible to the disease.

The Queen is the latest monarch from around the world to catch Covid.

Queen Margrethe of Denmark, 82, and Spain’s King Felipe VI, 54, both tested positive for the illness on February 9 and had mild symptoms.
