The Queen told she should publicly apologise to Meghan Markle for not protecting her

An American TV host has said The Queen and senior members of the Royal Family should apologise to Meghan Markle for the racial abuse she’s suffered while in the UK.

The View co-anchor Sunny Hostin told her audience that instead of “dredging up” years-old allegations about ‘bullying’ of staff they should be rallying around the Duchess of Sussex.

Speaking to Whoopi Goldberg, Meghan McCain, Sara Haines and Joy Behar the TV host said senior royals should have done more after news a probe into bullying claims were launched.

The views, reported in The Mirror, come ahead of a long-awaited interview with Oprah Winfrey which will be aired in the UK on ITV.

“I think they are that concerned – the Firm, the Palace, the Royal Family – about the Oprah interview to dredge up some allegations from two and a half years ago, that she allegedly bullied staff by sending emails at 5am,” she said.

“My goodness, I sends emails at 1am, 2am, 5am – I would have had many cases against me if that was criminal behaviour.”

Sunny went on: “I’m really shocked that rather than trying to mend this rift, rather than supporting Meghan and Harry, who I think removed his wife and his family from England because of the terrible racial hatred that she was subjected to, and he didn’t want history to repeat itself after what happened to his mother with the media.

“I’m just surprised that they haven’t tried to even apologise for not protecting her more, and instead do this.

“It says a lot, I think, about the workings of the Royal Family,” she added.

Sunny’s co-host Meghan McCain agreed, branding some of the bullying allegations “ridiculous” in their content.

“This is really interesting because it’s a very obvious oppo-dump on Meghan Markle, and one of the things she’s being accused of in her abuse is emailing staffers early in the morning,” she said.

“Right now they’re trying to make Meghan Markle look really, really bad, including accusing her of wearing diamond earrings that were gifted her by the Prince of Saudi Arabia after Jamal Khashoggi was murdered.

“And these are all facts that, I guess, known for many years – why are they coming out right now?”

Panelist Joy Behar agreed, saying: “In the British monarchy, they will just make your life miserable – you’d better toe the line.

“They do not like it when you go up against them.

“Look what happened to Diana, same thing, same thing. So I’m on Team Meghan Markle.”

It comes as a number of Meghan’s famous friends publicly throw support behind her on the eve of her bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.

She, along with Prince Harry, is expected to give the exact reasons for their highly publicised ‘Megxit’ break from the UK early last year, and to go into excruciating detail about what life is really like in the Royal Family.

The sit-down chat will air in the States at 7pm on Sunday (1am GMT Monday), followed by an airing at 9pm on Monday on ITV.
