The Queen will step down when she reaches the age of 95, royal biographer claims

The Queen will stand down and hand over the Monarchy to Prince Charles when she reaches the age of 95, a leading royal commentator has claimed.

Speaking exclusively to The Royal Beat, available on True Royalty TV, royal commentator Robert Jobson says that Diana, Princess of Wales thought she was ‘more powerful than the Queen’ in the run up to her 1995 BBC Panorama interview.

He also describes Prince Harry’s recent comments about his subconscious racial bias as ‘bare-faced hypocrisy.’

The royal biographer adds: ‘I still firmly believe when the Queen becomes 95, that she will step down.’

Newsweek Royal Reporter Jack Royston continues: ‘I think she won’t want to, but realistically she will get to a point where she has handed over everything to Charles and then how do you look your son in the eye and tell him he is not going to be King?’ 

Jobson’s comments come just before the 25th anniversary of Diana’s infamous 1995 interview with the BBC’s Panorama.

‘That period between the separation announcement [of Charles and Diana], she [Diana] actually was on the ascendancy of getting everything she wanted,’ he says.

‘But she did this [Panorama] and I think she thought she was more powerful than the Queen. The Queen thought enough was enough and the shutters came down.’

Following on from Harry’s comments on the subject of his own subconscious bias this week, Jobson says: ‘I find this bare-faced hypocrisy, coming out from them [Harry and Meghan].

‘I remember him making racial slurs about an Asian officer which was filmed by himself and distributed by his friends and he had to apologise for making racial comments. I find Harry telling everyone else that they are structurally racist hypocritical.’

Jobson also goes on to discuss recent reports about Prince Andrew potentially returning to royal duties.

‘Can he come back from this? No. No way can he come back from this,’ he says. ‘He has to be cleared by the FBI. If he goes over there, he opens himself to a large can of worms. Whatever he was doing at the parties was unsavoury. Andrew’s association with Epstein leaves him totally exposed.’

Jobson adds that Prince Phillip is instrumental in all of the Queen’s big decision concerning media coverage of the Royal Family.

‘It was Philip who was behind her first Christmas Televised broadcast,’ he explained. ‘It was his decision to have the Coronation televised and he had Churchill up against him. 

‘The Queen appointed Philip as Chairman of the Committee, and he had to fight everyone – even Winston Churchill – to get that through. That crowning moment was as much his crowning moment as it was the Queen’s.’
