The Royal Family’s most relatable parenting moments: Princess Diana tells Prince William off on sports day, Prince Louis pulls faces at Kate and Princess Anne has a stern word with Zara

They may have a regal life with palaces and titles – but sometimes the Royal Family prove they are just like the rest of us.

In a scene many parents may be used to, Zara and Mike Tindall had to tell off three-year-old son Lucas after he was caught play fighting with his older sister Lena, six,  at last month’s Burghley Horse Trials.

The former England rugby player was forced to break up the the mischievous youngsters.

And they aren’t the first royals to misbehave. In 1983, Princess Anne was pictured pointing her finger and talking to Zara who was around two at the time.

Meanwhile, Prince William, aged four years old, was spotted with a solemn look on his face after being told off at a polo club in 1987.

Read on below to find examples of how no one is perfect at parenting – not even the royals.

Prince William, just four years old at the time, went to Guards Polo Club in Windsor with his mother, Princess Diana, in 1987.

The young prince was photographed walking in a pale blue coat with his eyes open wide and frowning.

He appeared upset after being told off for getting up to mischief.

William was also seen sitting on the then-Princess of Wales’s knee as she comforted him.

Prince Louis

During the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022, Prince Louis showcased several amusing expressions as he was sitting next to his mother.

At one point the youngster turned to Kate, stuck out his tongue and held his hand up to his nose.

In another instance, he put his hand over the Princess of Wales’s mouth while they watched a pageant from the Royal Box.

Prince William being cheeky

Prince William was rather cheeky in his younger years, especially towards his teachers.

During a games lesson at Richmond playing fields, the then six-year-old prince pinched one’s bottom.

The moment made the front page of the Daily Mail, which said ‘his blonde teacher gave him a stern ticking off’ and afterwards William ‘looked shocked and suitably chastened’.

Despite the incident, the youngster enjoyed playing tennis and football with his class afterwards before returning to school.

Princess Diana had to step in and tell William off after he joined in with a game of tag at his school’s sports day in Richmond, Surrey in 1990.

The Princess of Wales was looking after her youngest son, Harry, when William sneaked away to play with his friends.

After she shouted him back with no luck, the Mail reported at the time how she ‘marched her mischievous son away from Wetherby School sports day’ and disciplined him.
