There was a fantastic turn-out for the second anniversary of the Fred Vines Memorial Darts Trophy held on Saturday at the Spalding Services Club.
Players and supporters alike honoured Fred’s memory in true sporting spirit.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who took part — each and every player gave it their all and it truly felt like Fred was watching over the action.
Special thanks to Dean Murray and Connor Newton for presenting the trophy to this year’s winner, Connor Mackenzie.
Congratulations also to runner-up Scott Church and to semi-finalists Connor Newton and Dave Norbury for their strong performances throughout the competition.
A busy night of darts across the Crowson Volkswagen Pinchbeck and District Winter League saw close contests, high checkouts and stand-out performances.
With several matches postponed, the spotlight fell on tight Division A battles and dominant displays in Division B.
In Division A, Consti Club C defeated Lincoln Arms D 6–3 in a strong home performance.
Jimmy Robinson impressed with a 105 checkout while Paul Faulkner and Jordan Philpott secured key singles wins to seal the result.
Black Bull Kirton edged Green Dragon A 5–4 in a close contest.
Wins from Chris Brinkley, Karl Louth, Mark Graham and Shaun Baxter in the first four singles gave Black Bull the cushion they needed.
Royal Mail Cart overcame Services Club B 6–3.
The hosts raced to a 4–0 lead before Tony Clark got Services on the board with a 2–1 win over Claire Brookin while Dave Norbury and Ady Smith added late singles wins for Services.
Jack Chilvers and Daz Gedney fired a 16-dart leg for Mail Cart while Ady Smith responded with a 17-darter.
Pinchbeck FC B beat Drayman’s Arms 5–4 in a match featuring big scores.
Phil Newton (Drayman’s) and Connor MacKenzie (Pinchbeck FC) both hit 180s.
Tom Elderkin clinched the win for Pinchbeck with a 2–1 victory over Newton in the last singles.
In Division B, Green Dragon Z defeated Services Club A 6–3, with Kieran Day of the Dragon hitting a 180 to highlight the night.
Consti Club Z dominated Green Dragon C 8–1.
Despite JP Horton and Adam Rear winning the opening pairs for the Dragon, Consti took control from there. Dean Hutson had a 180 for the Swineshead side.
Kirton Leisure cruised past Consti Club A 8–1.
Graham Nicholls checked out on 108 for the Leisure, while Merv Pattinson earned Consti’s only point with a 2–0 win over Alex Bemrose.
