The Who postpone their UK tour amid coronavirus outbreak

The Who have postponed their UK and Ireland tour amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The band say the decision came after “serious consideration” and want to protect their fans.

They said in an announcement: “After serious consideration, it is with much regret that The Who have postponed their UK and Ireland Tour, due to start next Monday March 16 in Manchester at the Manchester Arena and finishing at Wembley SSE Arena on April 8.

“The fans’ safety is paramount and given the developing coronavirus situation, the band felt that they had no option but to postpone the shows.

“The dates will be rescheduled for later in the year. All tickets will be honoured.”

Roger Daltrey assures fans that the shows will “definitely happen and it may be the last time we do a tour of this type, so keep those tickets, as the shows will be fantastic.”

The entertainment industry has been thrown into turmoil by the coronavirus pandemic, with major events either postponed or cancelled completely.

Health officials around the world have advised against mass gatherings in an attempt to stop the spread of Covid-19.

Doubts now surround big events set to take place in the coming months, including the Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam in May, June’s Glastonbury Festival in Somerset and the San Diego Comic-Con in July.

Coachella and Stagecoach music festivals were supposed to take place in the California desert in April, but have been pushed back to October.

South By Southwest had been set to take place from March 16 to 22 in Austin, Texas, but was cancelled on March 6.

One of the biggest film releases of the year, No Time To Die, was postponed from April to November because of the virus.

MGM, Universal and Bond producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, said they arrived at the decision after “careful consideration” and “thorough evaluation of the global theatrical marketplace”.

What Ticketmaster say about rescheduled events

My event’s been rescheduled – will I get new tickets?

If tickets have already been sent out when the event is then rescheduled, they will usually be valid for the new date. There’s sometimes the odd occasion where the original tickets won’t be accepted, but we’ll always be sure to let you know if that’s the case and what you need to do.

Can I have a refund?

We’re more than happy to issue refunds for cancelled, rescheduled or postponed events. If your event is cancelled, we’ll usually issue a refund automatically.

If your event is rescheduled or postponed, we’ll need you to return any tickets you’ve received to our address below, and once we have them, we’ll refund the face value plus the service charge onto your card. We recommend sending the tickets back securely (e.g. Royal Mail Special Delivery) as we can’t refund the tickets if they go missing on their way back to us.
