This Weekend’s Postal Delays: Royal Mail Shares Affected UK Areas

Royal Mail strives to ensure six-day-per-week delivery to all addresses in its mail network, though there are occasions when this may not be possible due to various factors. These factors include resourcing issues, high levels of staff sickness absences, poor weather conditions, and local circumstances. Royal Mail recently provided a service update for the weekend of July 22nd to July 23rd, informing customers about the three UK offices most affected by delays.

While apologizing for any inconvenience caused, Royal Mail assured customers that it has strategies in place to minimize the impact of these delays. When offices experience adverse effects, the postal service rotates deliveries to minimize delays for individual customers and provides targeted support to address the challenges being faced, in order to restore service to its usual high standard.

UK Offices Most Affected by Delays this Weekend

Cardiff West DO (CF5)

Camberley DO (GU15-GU17 and GU95)

Hendon DO (NW4)

Royal Mail also mentioned that customers who need to collect an item for which a ‘Something for You’ card has been left can find details of Customer Service Point locations and opening hours at royalmail.com/services-near-you. The postal service further explained that services in the RG40 and RG41 postcodes may be disrupted due to flooding at the Wokingham Delivery Office. However, contingency plans have been put in place to deliver as much mail as possible from a neighboring delivery office.

If you have recently received a ‘Something for You’ card and wish to collect your mail, it is recommended that you wait until this page is updated with confirmation of the reopening of the Wokingham Delivery Office.

Royal Mail also provided an update on post in Jersey, stating that they have decided, in collaboration with Jersey Post, to utilize the existing ferry service instead of the current dedicated postal flight between the UK and Jersey. This adjustment will result in a two-day service for all mail being sent to and from the island, effective from Monday, August 7th.
