We take our weekly look at some of the appointments and promotions across the housebuilding industry and its supply chain.

Matthew Lester, Kier

On 1 January 2020, former Royal Mail finance director Matthew Lester took up the role of chairman at Kier, replacing Philip Cox. He brings with him many years of experience of finance, notably from his time at Royal Mail Group from 2010 to 2017. He has also had senior roles at ICAP plc from 2006 to 2010 as well as Diageo, Man Group, Barclays and Capita.

 

Miles Ford, Barratt Homes

Miles Ford of Barratt HomesMiles Ford recently started his apprenticeship with Barratt Homes Northampton and now combining working at its Brooklands development in Milton Keynes with studying at Stephenson College to complete his Carpentry and Joinery Level 2 NVQ. “Once I’ve completed my apprenticeship, I’ll look to continue onto a Level 3 NVQ,” he said.

 

James Gibson, David Wilson Homes

James Gibson of David Wilson HomesDavid Wilson Homes South Midlands has promoted 23-year-old James Gibson from trainee quantity surveyor to assistant quantity surveyor. He said: “I have more responsibilities within the company and I am now more heavily involved in sites. In the future, I hope to progress in the business, becoming a surveyor and then senior surveyor.”

 

Two appointments, Croudace Homes

Adrian Watts and Claire Wright of Croudace HomesThere have been two new appointments at Croudace Homes. Adrian Watts has over 30 years’ industry experience and arrives from Redrow West London as the new managing director of its North Thames region. Claire Wright has been promoted to sales and marketing director (South Thames), having begun her Croudace career as an interior designer.

 

Julie Turnbull, Omega

Julie Turnbull of OmegaOmega, a leading brand in the design and manufacture of high-quality fitted kitchens and furniture for retailers and housebuilders, has welcomed Julie Turnbull as its new finance director. Simon Barber, chief executive of Omega PLC, commented: “We are delighted to welcome Julie. She has exceptional experience in fast-growing and expanding companies.”

 

Jim Connolly, Garic

Jim Connolly of GaricWelfare and plant hire specialist supplier Garic has appointed Jim Connolly to head up its Scottish sales operations, based at the company’s distribution hub in Falkirk. He brings with him almost 30 years of portable accommodation and plant hire experience including roles at Jarvie Plant, Sibcas, Wernick and Ravenstock.
