Ralph Hasenhuttl cleared to return to Southampton duty ahead of Liverpool clash after self-isolation
The Austrian coach, 53, took charge of the Saints remotely for a second consecutive goalless draw against West Ham on Tuesday evening after a member of his household tested positive for Covid-19. In a statement released via their official website, Southampton explained that Hasenhuttl’s wife had returned a positive coronavirus test without experiencing any symptoms on December 28, with that result examined and flagged as a potential false positive. “Under the guidance of both the Southampton medical team and the Premier League medical advisor, we are now confident that the original test was a false positive and Ralph has now been cleared to return to Staplewood and take training from January 1st,” Southampton’s statement read.
