Trains disrupted near Ely as ‘concern for woman’s welfare’ sparks emergency response

Trains between King’s Lynn and Ely was disrupted on Thursday morning (June 8) after reports of concerns for a woman’s welfare. The incident is believed to have taken place just after 5am.

Officers from British Transport Police were called to the line near Littleport station after what was first reported as a trespass incident. A number of other emergency services were also present on the scene.

Train services on the line were either delayed, revised or cancelled while officers attended the incident. Normal services resumed a couple of hours later.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to the line near Littleport railway station at 5.14am on 8 June following concerns for the welfare of a woman. The woman was located and taken to a place of safety.”
