Tributes flood in for ‘Royal Mail’s number one postie’

TRIBUTES have flown in to the ‘Royal Mail’s number one postie’.

Royal Mail vans lined the streets of Barrow to bid farewell to a much-loved postie and dad who tragically died.

Crowds of people filled Cemetery Hill on Tuesday to applaud the late Stuart Metcalfe who died suddenly at the age of 57.

Stuart was husband to Cheryl, dad to Laura and Stephanie, step-dad to Laura, Becky, Adam and Sophie and grandad to Imogen, Awais and Polly A devoted postman of 25 years, Stuart was known for delivering mail across Barrow and Dalton during his decades of service.

Northern Lass. said: “Don’t think Stuart would of believed the outpouring of respect given to him .must give his wife and family comfort to witness it.”

Robert Green said: “That what happens to nice people and Stuart was up there with the best.”

Linda Ellershaw said: “RIP Stuart Amen.”

Glynis Stewart said: “What a lovely tribute.x”
