Tutssel, who was also the former chairman of WPP’s Brand Union (now Super Union), executive creative director at Taxi Studio and a head judge for The Drum Design Awards, is understood to have been with his family when he passed on Tuesday 24 September.

Tutssel graduated from the London College of Printing with a First Class Honours Degree in Graphic Communications. during his career he worked with clients such as William Grant, Bacardi, Bass, Boots, Diageo, The Royal Mail, SAB Miller, BP, Shell, Esso and Rank Xerox, during his career.

The formation of Brand Union took place in 1997 when Lambie-Nairn and sister agency Tutssels were merged to offer clients services spanning television branding, corporate identity, brand packaging design and new media.

Brand Union was then acquired two years later by WPP.

When he resigned from the company on November 2014, Simon Bolton described Tutssel as “most definitely one of the design greats. A true craftsman. A true gentleman.”

He would go on to work with Taxi Studio as executive creative director.

Close friend John Mathers paid tribute to Tutssel, saying: “It was with huge sadness that I heard this morning of Glenn’s passing. He will be sorely missed, his legacy is everywhere to see and, perhaps most importantly, the people he helped with their careers are the leaders in our industry. Glenn epitomised the quote about how much you can achieve if you don’t take the credit yourself. I will sorely miss a legend of design and a great friend.”

Tutssel was also Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, A Freeman of the City of London and a Liveryman of The Worshipful Company of Distillers.
