TUI cancels all holidays to Lapland this winter due to Covid

TUI has cancelled all Lapland holidays this year due to the ongoing pandemic.

The tour operator claimed that due to the ongoing travel restrictions and uncertainty surrounding holidays abroad, all trips to the festive location would be cancelled until 2021.

They said in a statement: “TUI UK and Ireland today regrets to confirm it has made the incredibly difficult decision to suspend holidays to Lapland this winter, due to the continued uncertainty surrounding travel and the unprecedented impact of COVID-19.”

While they added that they understood families’ disappointment, what with Santa visits and reindeer experiences as part of the holidays, they made the decision due to the need for a negative coronavirus test for Finland soon to be introduced.

They continued: “TUI would like to apologise sincerely for any inconvenience and disappointment caused and thanks customers for their understanding.

“The magical TUI holiday experience to Lapland will be back in winter 2021.”

Anyone who has their holidays cancelled will be able to change it to next year, or get a credit note with incentives or a full refund.

TUI was forced to cancel all holidays after the lockdown announcement, although hopes to resume a limited schedule by December.

Families looking further ahead can even book a TUI summer holiday in 2022, with the tour operator launching their schedule two years in advance.

Christmas celebrations this year are likely to be limited due to the pandemic, with a number of markets cancelled around the UK.

Kids can instead speak to Santa virtually this year with Zoom experiences being offered.

Lapland UK, a popular experience in Berkshire, is still planning to open this Christmas, with celebs including Holly Willoughby and David Beckham being spotted there.
