Tweeddale Peace Group raises nearly £8000 with book sale

THE Tweeddale Peace Group held its annual book sale in Peebles last month, raising almost £8000.

The event was held at the Burgh Hall on September 20 and 21 with proceeds from the sales going towards local and national harmony and justice organisations.

A spokesperson for Tweeddale Peace Group said: “Thanks to a trusty band of volunteers, including an enthusiastic and much appreciated team of high school students, the Burgh Hall was transformed into a booklovers’ paradise with more than 25,000 second hand books available to browse and buy.

“And, not least, to the team of book sorters who receive and sort book donations throughout the year.”

A team of around 50 volunteers helped with the running of the event which not only raised money but was also a community social event.
