UK snow maps have pinpointed the exact date when a 446-mile wide snow storm is expected to sweep across 29 counties. According to forecasts from WX Charts, snow is set to arrive on Monday, March 10, potentially blanketing 10 counties in England, as per data from the Met Desk.
The areas bracing for impact include Cumbria, Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Merseyside, Northumberland, North Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Staffordshire, and Shropshire, which are all in the path of the anticipated snow bomb, as suggested by advanced weather modelling.
Scotland isn’t being spared either, with 19 counties predicted to witness the snowy conditions. Those at risk encompass Dumfries and Galloway, South Ayrshire, East Ayrshire, South Lanarkshire, West Dunbartonshire, East Dunbartonshire, North Lanarkshire, Glasgow City, Renfrewshire, Inverclyde, West Lothian, Falkirk, Clackmannanshire, Stirling, Argyll and Bute, Perth and Kinross, Highland, Moray, and Aberdeenshire, reports Birmingham Live.
In the more immediate forecast, the BBC Weather team has provided an update: “This afternoon will remain breezy and bright for most, with patchy cloud and bands of showers passing east across the UK. Blustery showers will linger in north-west Scotland.
“Tonight, the south will see a band of cloud and patchy rain spread eastwards. Elsewhere, a mixture of variable cloud and clear spells, with scattered heavy showers in the north-west. Breezy.”
The forecast for Tuesday, February 25, suggests a mixed bag of weather conditions across the UK. The BBC predicts: “Tomorrow, the north will start rather cloudy with showers whereas the far south will see any cloud and rain soon clear away. In the afternoon, a mix of bright spells and showers, wintry in the north.”
The outlook from Wednesday to Friday indicates: “Wednesday will be cloudier with spells of rain moving from the west, wintry over the Scottish hills. Drier in the far north-east, however. Trending cooler.”
For Thursday and Friday, it’s expected that: “On Thursday, there will be plenty of wintry sunshine across the UK. Only the far north-west will see scattered showers. Remaining dry and bright across the south on Friday. The north will see variable cloud moving in.”
