UK’s ‘rarest’ 50p coins released – and they’re worth thousands if you find one

The country’s most rare 50p coins have just entered circulation.

And Brits are being told to keep their eagle eyes out for the fifty pence pieces – because, if you land yourself one, you could end up thousands richer.

The Royal Mint has this week released its latest Peter Rabbit edition.

And to get hold of one, you’ll have to pay £10.

But the people behind the PR stunt  The Great British Coin Hunt  are putting 400 originally non-released Peter Rabbit 2019 50p coins into general circulation all over the country.

Promisingly, that gives the public the chance to own one at face value.

The Great British Coin Hunt, the people responsible for the stunt, say they are putting 400 Peter Rabbit 2019 50ps into circulation across the UK giving the public the chance to bag one, reports DevonLive.

The coins are available to buy from the Royal Mint for £10, with the Royal Mint stating: “The Peter Rabbit 2019 coin is a commemorative only coin. These will not be entering general circulation.”

You can also buy silver and gold ‘proof’ version for £65 and £795 respectively.

Kellie from the Great British Coin Hunt team, said: “We are circulating the 2019 Peter Rabbit. We’re hoping we’re going to get 40 volunteers to help us around the country.”

Ian Lambert, owner of ‘The Great British Coin Hunt, has released the first 20 locations where the coins have been put into circulation.

Updates on the Great British Coin Hunt’s circulation of the Peter Rabbit coins can be found on their Youtube Channel here.
