Under state law, assets will not count against households (Inland Valley Daily Bulletin)

As food banks report the region’s worst hunger crisis in decades, Los Angeles County supervisors this week directed officials to allow more middle-class families to qualify for food stamps. Currently, if a family has savings of more than $2,000, its members do not qualify for food stamps.
