Brown leaves are beginning to blanket the lawn, creating a picturesque autumnal scene. However, if left unchecked, these leaves can smother the grass, leading to bare and thin patches.
This is where the very handy leaf vacuum and blower comes in, as it is designed to collect the leaves and mulch them. Leaves that fall into flower beds and borders can be left as they will naturally decompose into the soil, providing shelter for insects and wildlife during the chillier days.
It’s the leaves on the lawn that we aim to vacuum up and transform into gardener’s gold, otherwise known as leaf-mould.
The task of vacuuming leaves may need to be carried out several times, as the leaf-dropping season can extend into December.
It’s crucial to tread lightly on the lawn while performing this task to avoid compacting the wet ground, reports the Express.
The leaf vacuum includes a bag attachment for storing the mulched leaves.
Once full, it can simply be emptied into an old compost bag and stored away for about 12 months before being used as mulch on beds and borders.

This process can be repeated annually to maintain a steady supply of leaf-mould.
