USPS Service Status on Domestic Services and Shipments

Here is our list of known disruptions and suspensions of USPS domestic services based on information the Postal Service provides to the public and in Industry alerts.

We may include problems reported in the media if they significantly impact Postal Service operations in an area.

Covid-19 related disruptions are minimal today, but again, some areas where there is a surge may be affected temporarily due to staffing shortages.

For the purpose of this information, we consider “domestic” to include shipments in the contiguous United States, as well as destined to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, Guam, and any other US territory.

Also, military and diplomatic mail disruptions will be included, if USPS is made aware of issues. The Postal Service does not actually deliver the mail outside the US once handed over to the military for international transport.

General Information About Covid-19 Related Service Impact on USPS Operations

Some post offices may have to change hours with little notice which may impact retail services, drop-off and pick-up of mail, and access to Post Office boxes or other services. If a major outbreak is reported in your community, check with your local post office for information on hours for counter service.

While most Post Offices allow access to PO Boxes 24/7, staffing may delay the delivery of mail to the box.

Masks and Social Distancing requirements may apply in some areas where local ordinances and Covid-19 mitigation rules are in force.

There are no known widespread transportation and network disruptions reported by USPS from Covid-19 related issues.

Retail Location Closures

The following is a list of active location closures that were reported via Industry Alerts by the Postal Service.

Arkansas – 6/22/2022

Murfreesboro Post Office, 201 E Main St., 71958. Operations are suspended until further notice (safety concerns). Retail and PO Box operations have been moved to Murfreesboro City Hall/Water Department, 204 E Main St., 71958.

California – 8/6/2022

Wildfires in Northern California (McKinney Fire in Siskiyou County) have resulted in USPS temporarily closing 2 post offices. Mail and delivery services are affected due to road closures. Here is the list of locations affected by these closures.

• Klamath River Post Office, 20523 State Highway 96, Klamath River, CA 96050-9998
• Happy Camp Post Office, 33 Davis Road, Happy Camp, CA 96039-9998 – Reopened 8/2
• Scott Bar Post Office, 27233 Scott River Road, Scott Bar, CA 96085-9998 – Reopened 8/9
• Seiad Valley Post Office, 44717 State Highway 96, Seiad Valley, CA 96086-9998 – Reopened 8/2

USPS has provided a list of alternate post offices where mail and packages have been moved for pick up. Please see this link for more information.

Markleeville, 14845 State Route 89, Markleeville, CA 96120-9995. Operations are suspended until further notice (flooding). All operations have been moved to Ranchos Station, 1271 Kimmerling Rd, Gardnerville, NV 89460-0800.

Florida – 5/11/2022

Avenue of the Americas Branch, 1455 NW 107th Avenue St., Miami, 33172-9997. Operations are suspended until further notice (unknown reason). All operations have been moved to Doral Branch, 1700 NW 97th Avenue, Miami, 33172-9998.

Illinois – 8/11/2022

Madison Post Office, 549 Madison Avenue, Madison, IL 62060-9998. Operations are suspended until further notice (air quality due to local fires).

The Postal Service suggests three nearby post offices for retail transactions; Venice Post Office, 408 Broadway, Venice, IL 62090-998, Granite City Post Office, 2350 Madison Ave, Granite City, IL 62040-9998 or Lovejoy Post Office, 413 S 3rd Street, Lovejoy, IL 62059-9998.

Sparta Post Office, 101 KY-467 W, 41086. Operations are suspended until further notice (fire damage). Customers are directed to Sanders Post Office, 14150 KY-36 E, 41083, until further notice.

Michigan – 8/18/2022

Roscommon Post Office, 281 Lake Street, Roscommon, MI 48653-9203. Operations are suspended until further notice (safety concerns). PO Box customers will continue to have access to their mail at the Roscommon Post Office. However, all other operations have been relocated to the Houghton Lake Post Office, 2255 Tower Hill Road, Houghton Lake, MI 48629-9498.

Luther Post Office, 207 State St., 49656-9803. Operations are suspended until further notice (fire damage). Retail, PO Box, and delivery operations have been relocated to Leroy Post Office at 106 W. Gilbert St., 49655-5123.

An additional nearby retail location is available for counter service at the Chase Post Office, 6958 S. Depot St., 49623-9800.

Mason Post Office, 144 W Ash St., 48854-9998. Operations are suspended until further notice (structural damage). Retail, PO Box and delivery operations have been relocated to the Lansing Main Post Office, 4800 Collins Rd., Lansing, 48924.

An additional nearby retail location is available for counter service at the Holt Post Office, 2190 Aurelius Rd., 48842-9998.

Minnesota – 7/8/2022

Cottonwood Post Office, 106 W. Main St., 56229-5000 Operations are suspended until further notice (flooding). All mail has been recovered. All mail and services have been moved to Hanley Falls Post Office, 123 N. 3rd St., 56245-5000.

An additional nearby retail location is available for counter service at the Marshall Post Office, 302 W. Lyon St., 56258-1308.

Ohio – 6/29/2022

Attica Post Office, 7 S. Main Street, 44807. Operations are suspended until further notice (structural damage). Retail, PO Box and delivery operations have been relocated to the New Washington Post Office, 214 W. Mansfield St., 44854-9800.

Dorset Post Office, 2477 State Route 193, 44032-9803. Operations are suspended until further notice (safety concerns). All delivery and retail operations are transferred to the Jefferson Post Office, 37 W. Jefferson St., 44047-9998.

An additional nearby retail location is available for counter service at the Pierpont Post Office, 62 State Route 7 S, 44082-9800.

South Dakota – 7/14/2022

Dimock Post Office, 501 S. Main St., 57331. Operations are suspended until further notice (unknown reason). Retail and PO Box operations have been moved to Parkston Post Office, 111 N. 1st St., 57366.

Tennessee – 9/1/2022

Hermitage Post Office, 3908 Lebanon Road, Hermitage, TN 37076. Operations are suspended until further notice (unknown reason). Retail and PO Box operations have been moved to Goodlettsville Post Office, 301 Northcreek Boulevard, Goodlettsville, TN 37072.

Texas – 8/9/2922

Chapman Ranch Post Office, 1004 County Road 8A, 78347. USPS added this location today to its service disruptions list but provided no reason. It did say that normal operations would resume on Monday, August 1, 2022. The location is normally not open on Saturdays and Sundays.

Highlander Station, 4428 N 19th Street, Waco, TX 76708. Operations are suspended until further notice (unknown reason). Retail, PO Box, BMEU and Drop Shipment operations have been moved to Waco Main Post Office, 430 W State Highway 6, Waco, TX 76702.

Washington – 8/4/2022

Lind Post Office, 119 W Second Ave, Lind, WA 99341-9998. Closed due to Cow Canyon Wildfire. No alternate post office was provided due to the nature of the fire according to USPS.

No known disruptions are reported by USPS.
